Meet the Governors
Welcome Message from our Chair of Governors
Welcome to Henry Chadwick Community Primary School, where our school motto, ‘Learn to Live’, is the foundation of our aspirations for our learners. This is a happy, safe, nurturing and forward thinking school where our children are at the centre of everything we do. We aim to provide a creative, challenging and inspirational curriculum where each child’s needs are met and every child is challenged to be the very best they can be.
As we move forward in this new and exciting phase of our development, I look forward to welcoming you to our school, at the heart of our community.

The School Governing Board
The school is “well supported by a strong governing body”. Governors know the school well and challenge the school well through their meetings, committees and visits into school.
Schools are run by governing bodies who work with Headteachers and senior management teams to ensure pupils get the best education. Think of it like a company where the Headteacher is the chief executive and the governors are the Board of Directors.
What they do?
They are responsible for making sure the school is run so children are encouraged to achieve their full potential
They are involved in:
- Setting the direction, policies and objectives of the school
- Approving the school budget
- Making sure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based and in particular that the National Curriculum and religious education are taught
- Appointing, challenging and supporting the Headteacher
- Representing the views of parents
What they can’t do
The governing body is a group. Individual governors have no powers except where the whole governing body has given them a specific job to do.
Governing bodies make their decisions based on the advice of committees that deal with specific issues, such as the school’s curriculum, premises or finances. They don’t make decisions individually and they can’t go into schools and make demands of the Headteacher and staff.
