Admissions to Pre-Reception (Nursery) year group in September each year
Since September 2018 Henry Chadwick Community Primary School has been responsible for managing its own admissions to the school’s nursery setting. Children will be admitted in the September of the academic year in which they become four years old. However, if there is space within the nursery setting we can admit children who have turned three after the 1st of September, as our class settings are mixed year groups (reception and nursery are taught as a mixed year group). and who will be four the following academic year.
All nursery aged children are entitled to 15 hours a week funded learning and care in an early years’ setting from the start of the term following their third birthday. Henry Chadwick Community School operates a once a year intake commencing on the 1 September. Our offer to parents is Monday to Friday 8.45am to 11.45am. There is also an offer of an extended provision for those eligible for the additional 15 hours a week funded childcare (a total of up to 30 hours a week). Parents can check their eligibility via www.childcarechoices.gov.uk Our Nursery Admissions Guidelines document provides full details.
Admissions to Reception year group in September each year
Admissions are open to pupils who have their 4th birthday between 1st September and 31st August in the previous academic year. Parents wishing their children to have a place with us must complete an admissions application form which is then sent to Staffordshire LEA for consideration.
Applications will be accepted for all eligible pupils up to the school’s planned admissions number (PAN). This is currently 15. If the number of applicants exceeds the PAN the available places will be allocated according to the LEA Admissions Policy (copy attached).
Any parent whose child is not allocated a place is entitled to appeal to the LEA.
Admissions to other year groups at all times or to Reception at any other time than 1st September
Pupils will be accepted in every year group where there is a place i.e. if the year group contains fewer children than the school’s PAN. We actively welcome in-year admissions if there is a place within the required year group. If you are considering an in-year change of school for your child please contact the office to arrange a visit, to meet the staff and pupils and to have a look around. Once a decision has been made, and the necessary forms completed, a move can be arranged very quickly, should you wish, as well as a transition/familiarisation visit for your child.
Again, any parent whose child is not allocated a place is entitled to appeal to the LEA.
Applications for places in school will be considered regardless of the gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, language, sexual orientation, ability, disability or social circumstances of either prospective pupil or parent.
